هجمات طائفية في اللاذقية تستهدف المدنيين العلويين تحت حماية أمنية مباشرة

On the evening of 29/12/2025, a sectarian attack and acts of violence were documented in Latakia Governorate, carried out by individuals loyal to the current transitional authority, with the direct presence, support, and protection of the General Security apparatus affiliated with the de facto terrorist authority.

This occurred alongside the heavy deployment of Ministry of Defense factions and the establishment of General Security checkpoints across multiple neighborhoods of the city, which served to facilitate the attackers’ movements and provide operational cover, rather than protect civilians or prevent the assaults.

The documented violations include the following:
• Attacks on civilian property belonging to members of the Alawite community, including the destruction of private vehicles and commercial shops.
• Direct gunfire targeting residential homes and neighborhoods with an Alawite majority, posing an immediate and serious threat to civilian lives.
• Physical assaults against passersby using bladed weapons (knives and machetes), in addition to severe beatings, accompanied by verbal abuse, hate speech, and explicit sectarian incitement.

Verified video materials further document the widespread possession of bladed weapons by the attackers, including children and minors, constituting a grave violation of child protection principles and indicating the use of minors in organized acts of violence.

In a related context, it was documented that on the previous day, peaceful demonstrators were subjected to similar attacks, including live gunfire and the use of bladed weapons, directly carried out by General Security forces and supporters of the transitional authority, resulting in dozens of injuries and the killing of several young men from the Alawite community while demanding their fundamental rights.
