Testimony on the Killing of Ahmad Nasra, Son of Alawite Sheikh Halim Nasra
On April 5th, while returning home from his job at a plastics factory, 30-year-old Ahmad Halim Nasra was stopped at a checkpoint run by #HTS, a routine stop, as he passed through the area daily.
-Riding on the back of his motorcycle were his two young cousins, ages 15 and 16.
The militants asked, “Who are these boys?”
Ahmad replied, “They’re my aunt’s sons. They’re orphans, their father passed away.”
One of the militants followed up, “How did their father die?”
Ahmad answered, “He was killed during the war..”
The militant then asked, “So, regime remnants?”
Ahmad responded, “No no, they were too young to be drafted, and they carry civilian IDs.”
The militant waved him on, saying, “Go ahead.”
-Just ten meters down the road, they opened fire on him, killing him instantly. Afterward, the militants brutally assaulted the two boys, breaking their legs, and one sustained a fractured arm. They were detained along with Ahmad’s body, and the militants summoned his father, Sheikh Halim Nasra, a respected Alawite figure in the community.
-Once the father arrived, the jihadist militants tried to coerce him into signing a statement falsely claiming that “regime remnants” were responsible for his son’s death.
He refused.
This chilling incident highlights the unchecked brutality carried out by HTS jihadis on a daily base in areas under their control.
